desk ℅ kit out my office
what’s on my desk? ava, a lot of the time. the day i got it and put it together she plonked straight down on top and it’s been a firm favourite since.
i’ve lived in this flat for almost 7 years now and in that time i’ve never had a desk. when i’m making collages, doing blog stuff or just browsing the internet, i’ve used my lap, the floor and sometimes a tiny foldable table. i can’t tell you how good it feels to have an actual desk to work on after all this time!
currently i’ve mostly just been using my laptop on it so i can type at a more comfortable height, and edit photos without a huge amount of glare behind me. i have a few new collages to share soon too…
now that i have a desk i can properly spread out when i can make my collages! i can use it for a backdrop for flat lays. i can eat my lunch on it whilst watching something. ooh, the possibilities! now all i need is a proper chair.
what’s on it i hear you ask? lots of plants of course, including a dracaena, christmas cactus and now my maidenhair fern. my inspiration board is actually a cooling rack (unused obviously) as i can’t afford a fancy big one. at any given time there’ll be illustration or blogging based bits like notebooks, stationery and my camera ready to grab.
there’s also a drawer on one side that is currently housing what i can only think to describe as ‘bits and bobs, ha. i chose a lovely bright yellow but kit out my office have lots of colour choices. if you want to know where anything else is from, ask away!
i thought i’d list a few places where you can buy lovely home accessories that would look perfect on your desk (or elsewhere in your home), as well as also being functional in some cases. a must when you’re lacking space!
rose & grey | wayfair | west elm | redcandy | flamingo gifts | the future kept | oliver bonas | hollys house | an artful life | the people shop | etsy | hopscotch | shedquarters | the hambledon | moonko | vintage actually | yay retro | pedlars | alfies studio | botany shop |
what sort of items do you consider as desk ‘essentials’, by the way? i think no matter what kind of work you do on your desk, a little bit of storage and a nice lamp is something most require. i’m gonna be biased and say at least one plant too. not everybody likes trinkets and keepsakes but i think they add a bit of personality to a working area.
post in collaboration with kit out my office. as always, all words and imagery my own. thank you to the brands that help support this blog.
