snapshots of my week – 13th march

zebra crossing
black and white photo of feet and dress

despite not being spectacular in any shape or form, this week (apart from tuesday) has been pretty good. good in the way that i’ve not been consumed with stress and worry, in that the weather has been nice, and that i feel a little more positive about the future. i am a pessimist at heart, but even thinking a little more positively really can make such a huge change.

thanks to the ever improving weather i’ve been out taking photos again this week whilst doing other daily tasks. recently(ish) i’ve been to penarth and cardiff bay and – money permitting – i hope to go to some other nearby places soon (like barry island again!).

i know i say this on a semi-regular basis, but taking photos makes me ever so happy. getting my fuji x10 at the beginning of the year has helped massively too. i take it e-v-e-r-y-w-h-e-r-e (though i do want a nice leather strap for it). i love my dSLR and my old lenses but it’s harder to take out on a whim due to it’s size and weight.

what have you been up to, and how has your week been?

Lovely shots! I especially like the second one, the contrast between the green plants and the wall, it's perfect.

Can't wait to see more photos!

the wall was a touch more orange in real life, but i loved how the plants looked next to it so had to take a photo!

So glad to hear the week has improved. Taking photos always makes me happy too, especially now spring is here. I love that image of the plant against the pink wall – amazing!

i love that taking photos kind of just ‘takes me away’, if only for a moment.

Love the Camelias in your vid – my favourite winter blooms. And Penarth – a good friend lives there, and it's got a PIER! This I never knew until I went!

haha, love a good pier! i don’t, however, like walking across them. always fear they’re going to suddenly collapse :/

Ahh, the sunshine makes everything so much better! I know what you mean about camera size – I rarely take my DSLR out with me these days but i'm getting super lazy & just using my iphone which I need to sort out!

    • Reply laura redburn 26/03/2015 at 09:50

it really does :) yeah the main reason for me getting that camera was that i could take it everywhere with me – and i do!

Fab photos and I love your video too. I try to take my camera out with me, but like you, think a DSLR is quite bulky to carry around.

thank you alison! haha yep, they are very bulky!

I agree, the sun really does help perk up my mood, love the photos too.

a little bit of sun (or blue skies) makes things a not seem so bad :)

That video is gorgeous, definitely lifted my spirits after a cold day today! Those cats too! Glad you have been feeling more positive about things, it really is amazing what this time of year can do!

thank you! heh, they’re both the same cat – our cat ava! :) and yes, this time of year definitely does make most people feel more invigorated and inspired. i constantly have ups and downs, but brighter skies help more than drab grey ones!

Laura, I don’t know how you manage to take something as mundane as road markings and turn them into a beautiful photo – you are truly gifted! xx
