roath park conservatory

leaf with water droplets

a couple of weeks ago i decided to go to the conservatory in roath park, as i’d somehow not been in there before. i’ve been missing out all these years living in cardiff! despite having to walk around barefoot due to my shoe strap breaking, it was absolutely worth it. also i got myself some chocolate cake on the way home. win/win.

it costs £2 to go in and you can stay there as long as you like. i spotted a couple students (i assume illustration ones from cardiff met) drawing – it’s a perfect place to sit and draw all the plants or even just eat your lunch if you want an interesting view. it’s not very big but there’s definitely a lot packed in to the space, and if you take a good look around it’s easy to spend a good bit of time in there.

if you’re in cardiff, have some time to spare and a couple pounds in your purse, i’d definitely recommend a visit, especially if you’ve not been to roath park before. i have plenty of clips from the conservatory in my latest snapshots post too, if you want to see a little more. also i tagged on a couple photos on the end from the rose gardens and a couple from the park. more flowers for you!

Hang on, HOW is it possible I lived right next to Roath Park for over 2 years and didn’t ever go to the Conservatory?! Roath Park was a favourite of mine as a student in Cardiff. We used to play impromptu ball games there, go “boating”, wander around hungover and people watch drinking bottles of Lucozade. But I never even knew there was a Conservatory. Wail!
