new work – ‘cecelia waits’ and ‘sabine’

my work, collage by

on monday i really wanted to make a collage with lots of flowers, but that wasn’t over the top. i really like the balance here. the background is from an old mono-print i did in college years ago. i always kept all the offcuts and mistakes because i knew they’d come in useful someday, and hey, they did! see, sometimes being a bit of a hoarder/collector is useful.

i’ve been meaning to do more mixed media work lately. i’ve been doing little bits, but i keep meaning to specifically do more print and collage based mixes, as these were my main loves in college and what spurred me on to become the creative person i am today.

this piece is called ‘cecelia waits’. what is she waiting for, i wonder?
here’s to more! more patterns are in the works too.

and here’s a shot of the actual collage:

this piece is called ‘sabine’. it’s mixed media too. her ‘top’ for example is nail varnish marbled on card. i really enjoy making pieces with one main focal element and the rest being shape and textures that i’ve created myself, i think it makes the main image stand out more and has a special touch.
