mysteries of the universe & x factor | new collages

mysteries of the universe collage by laura redburn

feels like it’s been a while since i shared something! i made these recently after a burst of inspiration and i have a few more collages to share soon too. i personally prefer to spread them out on the blog, but if you want to see a quick shot just after i’ve made something, i often share on instagram stories and/or on my main feed.

these were made from cuttings from a vintage book and i think the girl in the last collage was from a vintage french magazine? i have so many cuttings from different sources i often lose track, oops. i always prefer to use vintage pieces as i love the depth and colour they lend to a piece, but sometimes for commissions, something new or specific is required, so i tie in vintage elsewhere, like in a bit of texture or a shape in the background.

what do you think of these?

as always, you can buy these on a few products, i particularly like: hardcover journal, wall tapestry, scarf, duvet covers, throw pillows and contrast tanks. (affiliate links)

These are fantastic! The abstract shapes and colours are so yummy. Actually would you mind if I shared these on my blog, credited back to you of course? I like to share other artists’ work on my blog and try to build community through that :)

I also love collaging with vintage material – even the quality of the paper is so nice to feel in your hands!

thank you! and of course you can, ideally with a link if you don’t mind :) and yes i agree! it either feels really thick and tactile or thin and precious.
