grey dress & black cardigan | what i wore #yourrules

black cardigan – new look / vero moda dress – ℅ house of fraser / ramona necklace – oh my clumsy heart / belt – charity shop / ivy boots – ℅ hotter / vegas volt MAC lipstick – ℅ house of fraser

firstly, look at how long my fringe is getting! can’t believe i still haven’t cut it yet.

secondly – oof, it’s starting to get properly chilly! normally in late autumn/early winter i still tend to wear lots of colour, but just lately i have been wearing a lot of black and grey and this outfit is no exception. still have that bit of colour with lipstick and my fuschia coat though (one day i’ll wear it in an outfit post – remind me!).

i, along with a few other bloggers, were challenged to style this grey swing dress in our own way (the hashtag chosen for this is #mystylemydress) and instead of dressing it up all fancy, i’m wearing it here exactly how i’ve been wearing it out and about, as well as around the house. saying that, it’s an exceptionally easy dress to style however you want depending on occasion.

we were also gifted an additional item – curious to see what the other ladies got! – to help add further to our own style. this item was actually a surprise and to be honest, as soon as i saw the MAC lipstick box i literally said ‘yessss!’. lipstick is my favourite makeup item, and the one thing i nearly always wear. lady danger is my all time favourite lipstick, but obviously sometimes you don’t always want to wear bold shades (especially if you have little other makeup on, and just want a touch of colour instead).

vegas volt, for me, is a good middle ground. it’s not too full on, but has more colour than what, for me, would be a ‘nude’ or more natural shade. you probably know how much i love coral shades too and vegas volt is definitely that.

so yeah. i really like lipstick. maybe i could do a post with my favourite lipsticks?

finally onto the boots. the oh-so-comfy-add-a-bit-of-edge-to-your-outfit-boots. i have worn these pretty much every day since i got them in october. with my recent toe issues i was afraid they were going to ‘suffocate’ it a bit, but they’ve done no such thing and i don’t have to worry about freezing of my toes anymore. i think they look great with all my clothes too, and give this simple look a bit of a boost.
