getting to know you, getting to know all about you

the fantastic jessica of little henry lee did a little Q&A post recently and after reading through everyone’s answers, it made me really want to do one too! i shared something super personal on here yesterday, so i kind of want to turn the tables and learn a bit more about all of you.

i know some readers of this blog more than others, and some i don’t know at all. so, let’s change that! i love finding out what makes a person ‘tick’ so ..answers on a postcard please. or, just the comments, eh? feel free to answer as many/few as you want :)

– what’s your name?
– how olf are you?
– where are you from/where do you live?
– what is your job?

– what are your hopes/goals for 2015? what are you doing to achieve them?
– if you could go back in time, what year would you travel to?
– what is your favourite memory?

– what’s the most thoughtful thing you’ve been given and/or best piece of advice?
– what activity makes you the happiest?
– what last made you smile or laugh?

– how long have you been reading this blog?
– is there anything you want to see more or less of?
– any other questions?

ps. the title comes from this song from the king and i. i’ve had it in my head since jessicas post!

hello! this is a great idea…so here goes…

    ~ I'm Kirsty
    ~ I'm 30 (so old, haha!)
~ I'm from a town called Wallasey, near North Wales and a ferry ride from Liverpool but am currently traveling/living in China
~ I guess i'm kind of unemployed right now but I used to manage a tattoo studio & studied textiles a while back so i'm very into surface pattern (pattern geek right here!)

~ for 2015 I haven't set any specific goals as such because I'm terrible at following a plan & I'm away from home but in general i'm aiming to look after myself & my mind, that sounds a bit airy fairy ha ha, and to embrace life as it happens. I'm also trying to keep drawing and designing as a way to get me thinking and creating.

~ I'd love to see every era but if I had to choose it would probably be 1940's Britain

~ to choose a favourite memory is TOO hard so i'll pick one from last year; I'd flown home to the UK just before Christmas and got to go pick the real Christmas tree with my Mum.We then had the best roast dinner ever and then we all just sat by the fire watching crappy tv feeling stuffed full of food. The combination of my family, my boyfriend, good food, the woody smell of the tree & the crackle of the fire just is a comforting, homely memory for me.

~ make your own heaven; I read this somewhere once and it's stuck with me.

~ just being outside makes me happy. I could be gazing at the stars, gardening, walking across a beach or simply walking home in the rain.

~ I'm just thinking about all the things that have made me laugh recently and they all sound pretty weird when I try to write them down! I guess a really funny thing was when I fell over on the Great Wall and my boyfriend captured it on film and now we watch it back and it never fails to create fits of giggles from the two of us.

~ I'm a new reader! It's only been a few weeks since I found your blog & I can't even remember how I found it. I've even been through and read nearly all of your old posts too. As a fellow pattern maker I'd love to see more of your work but to be honest; keep doing what you're doing :)
