snapshots of my week – 7th june

snapshots, collage by

i’ve actually done lots this week! it’s nice to be properly productive and actually feel useful. i think the nicer weather has definitely helped. even if i don’t go out all day, just it being lighter makes me feel better and more positive. i’ve actually done a lot more than this this week but i don’t want to bombard you all with photos.

vintage opera glasses/binoculars from charity shop
articulated wooden hand with broken thumb
gold bowl next to small purple flower

at the beginning of the week i found these fantastic opera glasses/binoculars, an articulated wooden hand (minus the thumb) and this cute little golden bowl. i was a bit disappointed at the hand being thumbless, but it was reduced to a price i could easily afford, which is a lot less than buying one new.

the golden bowl i’m going to speckle the inside with some black or dark grey paint, which i think will make it look just that bit more special. so nice to add your own touch to things, isn’t it!
vintage french orange bottle

i just love this vintage french orange bottle i won from vintage actually via peta’s vintage boutique. i’m forming quite a bottle/jar addiction so this is a perfect addition to the collection.

on monday i went to cosmeston lakes with my sister. it was a lovely sunny day, and it was so nice to go out somewhere different and take photos. i really wish i had a bike so i could go out and explore for for free and take photos.

abstract colour collages by laura redburn / cardboardcities

i also made some collages! more will be on the way, and some originals will be added to my etsy shop, as well as prints from society6.

snapshots of my week – 31st may

snapshots, pattern by

wow, this has been a really slow week. unlike most people i actually don’t mind the rain and a bit of greyness, but if it goes on too long it definitely affects me. saying that, obviously a bit of sun is nice! though i can’t stand being hot. autumn is my favourite time of year ..still a bit warm, but comfortably so, and even a bit stormy sometimes! i love that. what’s your favourite time of the year?

pattern by laura redburn / cardboardcities, available at society6

i made a pattern yesterday! well, i started it off a while ago, but when i was sorting through my things i felt inspired and wanted to finish it! hopefully you’ll be seeing more from me soon. by the way, for anyone who follows my art i have still been making things, just nothing i feel is good enough to show you all. it’s easy these days to be tempted to show everything, but then there’s no mystery!

you can buy this print from my society 6 store as just a print, stationery cards, iphone or samsung galaxy s4 case, or a throw pillow! also, until the end of today, you can get free worldwide shipping if you follow this link.

television and bookshelf from ikea

i had a little room makeover thanks to moneysupermarket. my room feels so much more organised and bigger now! hopefully that will encourage some mighty creative powers to be sent this way.

tortoiseshell glasses from firmoo

i (finally) got some glasses. i can see much more clearly now, as well as having drastically reduced my headaches and tired eyes. i don’t know why i put off getting them for so long! i got mine from firmoo. if it’s your first time buying there, you can get your first pair free, how cool is that! you just need to pay the shipping. great if you’re on a budget and can’t afford designer lenses.

glass bottle

talking of glass, i found this fantastic little bottle when sorting out the cupboards at the beginning of the week. love the shape!

sponsor cardboardcities blog

also, i’m now officially accepting sponsors for june! if you’re interested have a look at my basic sponsor details. or click on the sponsor link above the header for more details.

what have you been up to this week? any plans for next week?

snaphots of my week – 25th may

snapshots, photography, instagram by

this is my 100th post! woo! i’m quite proud of myself for sticking with this for as long as i have. i will most definitely continue to do so, as blogging has quickly taken a little piece of my heart. it’s fun, interesting and hard work, and i love it all. as well as that, it’s helping me improve my photography a bit, as well as giving me something to focus on and/or focus all my internet browsing over the years into one place.

snapshots of my week, 100th post, cut out numbers
ice cream chocolate tin from marks and spencer

if you follow me on instagram or twitter you may know i found this wonderful little tin of chocolates in marks & spencer! i never impulse buy, but i saw this and i just had to get it. so cute! love simple and graphic things like this.

bridge on river taff, wall of wool in john lewis

i walked to ikea yesterday, and on the way i realised i’d never walked over the bridge in town that goes over the river taff. i’ve lived in cardiff 3 years now and somehow never been over it. not that that’s overly exciting, but the bridge you see walking over it is really nice! i liked the train too.

this wall of wool was in john lewis. the colours and the way it was stacked and took up a whole long wall made me really rather happy so i had to take a photo!

my big wonder book annual

i found this fantastic book in a charity shop at the beginning of the week. everybody knows the saying ‘don’t judge a book by it’s cover’, but when you see this, how could you deduce anything other than it’s going to be an awesome book? i loved it so much i wrote a post about it too, which you can read here.

i’ve taken lots of other pictures this week, but they are for a post next week so you’ll just have to wait and see!
what have you done this week?

snapshots of my week – 17th may

snapshots by

this has been another quite crafty week, making and modifying things is just too much fun though!
hopefully this creative burst will continue because it’s nice to feel as if i’m doing something useful, even if it’s just for myself. when i have a few days where i just can’t seem to be creative in any way, i really don’t feel myself. i’m sure many of you know exactly how that feels!

did you see my new friday florals series? i will of course continue to do the snapshots of my week posts, as it’s a nice way to look back on the week. the idea of some floral based posts has been floating around in my head for a while, but i wasn’t sure how to tie it all together. now you get some flowers every friday! woo!
