recently i had the absolute pleasure of illustrating a piece for the wonderful betty magazine. i was in the previous issue, but with pieces i’d already made (albeit amended) so it was wonderful to make something from scratch this time!

the theme of the issue is all things floral and nature, and the article i was chosen to make an illustration for was titled ‘the perks of being a shrinking violet’ ..something i identify well with! i got a synopsis of the article to help get the ideas flowing, and evidently it worked because i came up with this pretty quickly!

i think this is one of the most popular collages i’ve created in a while! possibly because it’s quite graphic and simple, and of course ice cream is always going to be popular. my agents at phosphor even had postcards made of it to go in their postcard mail outs that have been sent out recently. they sent me a few too, so good to see the collage on something tangible!
