fashion & blogging from cambridgeshire with caroline burke from burkatron

hey caroline! could you please give us a little intro to your blog and style?
Hey lady! Well I think I’m a pretty casual person which is usually reflected in my outfits.. I love heels but they don’t love me so I tend to live in converse and jeans aha! I also harbour a love for all things vintage so I’m often found hanging out in dusty old shops on a treasure hunt! My blog is a place where I share the things I love most fashion, nail art and DIY projects, I’ve also just moved into my first house so interiors are my latest obsession too!

do you have a favourite piece of clothing or outfit that you own?
At the moment it’s my vintage levis jacket complete with badges.. some form of denim is usually a wardrobe staple for me!

what or who influences your style?
Definitely fashion bloggers but also celebrities like Kate Bosworth and Isabel Lucas who pull off boho fashion so effortlessly!

what would be your dream collaboration?
Gosh that’s hard, there’s so many fashion brands I’d love to work with but I’d also love to collaborate with a publisher to create a DIY book, that would be pretty darn amazing and I’d really enjoy the whole creative process!

if you have one, who is your all time favourite designer or dream item?
Oh Coco Chanel (but Vivienne Westwood is a close second)

how do you juggle blogging and day to day life?
By writing lists.. oodles of lists haha!! I literally can’t sleep if I haven’t written down every thought in my head.. whether it’s for an upcoming post or just reminding me to wash my hair!

Sometimes it’s a struggle to keep a healthy balance with work/blogging/personal life but staying organised really helps. I like to have a rough idea of what the week ahead will look like on my blog and have all my photographs ready to go.. I prefer to write my posts on the day I post them so having photo editing done in advance helps me keep on top of it. The only time I struggle with planning is when it comes to outfit posts.. mother nature is a hard one to predict.. damn you woman!

do you have any favourite fashion blogs you like to read?
Betty Autier from leblogdebetty.com is my all time favourite blog! However.. I also enjoy stalking these ladies:
afterdrk.com
thelittlemagpie.com
pagesbymegan.com
missplayground.blogspot.co.uk (recent favourite discovery)
elliesfavouritethings.com

where are your favourite places to shop where you are? what about online?
Locally it’s definitely charity/vintage shops although they’re becoming more and more expensive! Online is a world of trouble.. my most visited would be Asos, Topshop, Urban Outfitters and Zara.
I love sites like Etsy for more quirky handmade items and I have a awful obsession for buying notebooks so artbox.co.uk is a regular destination for cute kawaii stationery!
(I also consider a trip to Ikea a regular shopping highlight.. does that count aha!?)

fashion & blogging from north london with lucy from shiny thoughts

interview, fashion from by

lucy of shiny thoughts is my kinda gal. she’s super colourful and loves to mix patterns. though not everything she wears is something i’d wear myself, i love that she is not afraid to be different and wear what she loves. her style is so ‘her’ and that is something i always like to see in a person when it comes to their personal style. fun and colourful is the name of lucys game and she is sure a winner.

hey lucy! could you please give us a little intro to your blog and style?
Hullo! I’m Lucy, a colourfully dressed smiley 24 year old living in North London and working as a Editor and Graphics maker at ASOS. I’m hooked on Salsa dancing, Pilates, palm tree style plants, bright colour-pop rooms, and shiny things. My blog is a photography based diary of what I’m wearing and the things I’m getting up to or collecting. Usually it involves colour, print clashing and burgers!

do you have a favourite piece of clothing or outfit that you own?
I love my Motel Rocks baroque print mini skirt with a monochrome print blouse or grey marl vest and nike air max. a little dash of androgyny with prints make me drool!

what or who influences your style?
Other bloggers, girls at asos, interiors, magazines, adverts, conversations, the weather.

what would be your dream collaboration?
ooohhh… Someone like set designer Hattie Newman or yourself and asos – then I can get a cheeky discount haha.

if you have one, who is your all time favourite designer or dream item?
Hmm I wouldn’t say I have one but I love a bit of Jeremy Scott, Lazy Oaf, Kate Spade – anything fun or colourful mainly. My dream item right now is a cute co-ord set – ideally in a dreamy palm tree print!

how do you juggle blogging and day to day life?
Ha! Good question! The fact that I’m typing this on the bus to work and in the toilet shows you a bit of the extent of it! Juggling my job with blogging isn’t easy at all and sometimes it’s stressful which is silly because it shouldn’t be about that! I spend some of my evenings and weekends doing it but it’s about being as efficient as possible and managing your time. I use a tablet on the but to write posts up and try and break it down into little chunks like renaming photos on flickr whilst waiting for something. I downloaded the wordpress app which helps a little and I’ve forced myself to dilly dally less on Photoshop!

do you have any favourite fashion blogs you like to read?
I adore Late Afternoon and Park and Cube, plus all my friends blogs like iwantyoutoknow.com and wishwishwish.net. I barely get time to read any unfortunately and tend to read design or interior blogs instead but working every day on asos fashionfinder means i get to see loads of different Bloggers daily style looks in one place rather than reading all their blogs!

where are your favourite places to shop where you are? what about online?
Well working at ASOS makes things very (too) easy for me! *kicks asos order from last night under desk*

Again, I don’t have much time for shopping but if I do it’ll be the usuals: Zara, H&M, River Island. I’ve just got myself a skirt from Mango and lusting over a Fashion Union dress at the moment! As for other things, snooping around Habitat, West Elm, Liberty, Oliver Bonas and Paperchase etc is always fun!

fashion & blogging from london with kristabel plummer from i want you to know

kristabel plummer in blue coat
kristabel plummer is a knitwear designer and blogger, and blogs over at i want you to know. she has a love for colour and bold items that i definitely (obviously) identify with. i’d totally wear many of the things she does – if only i’d look half as good as her in them – and that’s something that draws me to her blog. i love following a mixture of people with different styles, some similar to mine, and some really different.

want to know more about kristabel? read on…

hey kristabel! could you please give us a little intro to your blog and style?
I’ve been writing I Want You To Know for over five years now and it’s evolved into a bit of an online diary (without the angst) that runs alongside my life. I document my outfits, fashion discoveries, travels and whatever else I get up to, as long as it’s visually interesting. My style is a bit eclectic, I’m a fan of a few different aesthetics and I see no reason just to stick to one thing. I let myself get drawn to certain pieces and I style them up according to my mood and more often than not, the weather.

do you have a favourite piece of clothing or outfit that you own?
It’s extremely hard to narrow down as I’m a bit of a magpie! I have a few favourite items at any one time so I’ll pick one of each category. I love my Topshop leather jacket, yellow Orla Kiely collared dress and red Swedish Hasbeens. My Mulberry handbag would complete the look.

what or who influences your style?
Rather than looking to a specific person, I think my need to try new things and experiment influences my style. I’m always looking to other bloggers and street style for inspiration but in the end I just wear what’s right for me and what I feel comfortable in. We’re living in such an exciting time in terms of fashion, so much is accessible now and trends are a lot more fluid. Nothing is really out of fashion as long as you update it and have conviction. I just love the way people mix and match things, such as a slogan sweatshirt, full skirt and pair of trainers. If I had to name a few people who keep popping up on my Pinterest, it would be Eleonara Carisi, Candela Novembre, Kate Foley, Susie Bubble and of course Alexa Chung.

what would be your dream collaboration?
Probably Carven x H&M! I’m forever stalking pieces in the Net a Porter sale and I’m determined to own one of their dresses one day.

if you have one, who is your all time favourite designer or dream item?
I’m trying to narrow it down between Kenzo and Carven. They are both vaguely accessible and not too pretentious. I’m always drawn towards clothes I can wear right this second and their collections are ripe for mixing with what I have in my wardrobe. I managed to purchase my dream Kenzo initial sweater last year so now I’m after a 3.1 Phillip Lim Pashli bag.

how do you juggle blogging and day to day life?
I don’t really! I’m currently toying between making blogging a significant part of my career and focusing on knitwear design. I’m constantly online, thinking up ideas and working on three different posts at any one time, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. Having a space online comes naturally for me and I really want to make the most of it and have no regrets.

do you have any favourite fashion blogs you like to read?
I tend to go through phases when it comes to the blogs I read, I used to religiously read a few hundred but now I tend to just click on what appeals to me in Bloglovin. I always keep up with my friends’ blogs (Wish Wish Wish, Dearest Deer, Shiny Thoughts, What Olivia Did, Lovecloth and Diamondcanopy) but also love reading Style Bubble, Man Repeller, Pandora Sykes, The Time Is Grey, Maria Van Nguyen and A Beautiful Mess. Stylesightings is great for global street style and doesn’t just focus on the ‘famous’ bloggers.

where are your favourite places to shop where you are? what about online?
It’s too dangerous for me to go into shops but when I’m feeling reckless I love & Other Stories, COS, Monki, Topshop and Urban Outfitters. ASOS is pretty much my main online destination, I even spoke about it on a BBC2 shopping program last year! I just find it so much easier to consider my online purchases for a few days over committing instantly in person. That being said, I did pop into Opening Ceremony once last year whilst waiting for a friend. I saw a jumper I liked, the next day I tried it on and the following day I bought it. This proves my point about shops being dangerous.
